Morgan Hamilton asked:

It can be a devastating day when you receive a denial letter in the mail when you were expecting a shiny new Citibank credit card. The first question you are likely to ask is, “Why was I denied?” There are several reasons why your Citibank credit card application would be denied including lack of income and already owning too many cards. The purpose of this article is to explain the five top reasons you may be denied for a Citibank credit card.

You’re not old enough -

It may seem strange but every year Citibank receives applications from teenagers hoping to get a credit card. While this may seem like fraud, most of these kids aren’t trying to be deceptive. They simply do not know that you have to be eighteen in order to qualify for a card. This has become more prevalent since teenagers have access to so many other things, such as email and cell phones, that once were reserved for adults.

You don’t make enough money -

This is probably the second most common reason for your Citibank credit card application getting denied. A certain amount of steady income is required in order to qualify for a Citibank credit account.

You haven’t been at your residence or your job long enough -

Citibank likes to see a person has stability. One of the ways it notes this is by the length of time at your current residence and occupation. If you’ve recently moved or switched jobs, your Citibank credit card application will be denied for this
reason.

Your credit history is too short or too bad -

This is the main reason applications are denied. If your credit score is below a certain number (which varies from card to card) you will be considered too high of a risk to issue a card. If you have none or too little credit, card companies feel this is just almost as bad as poor credit since they have no basis for trusting you.

You already have too many cards -

Citibank, like any credit card company, doesn’t like to see people opening too many accounts. It may indicate that you aren’t good with your credit (if your cards are maxed out) or that you may end up in trouble later on (if you max out the cards and then can’t pay for them), so most lenders will stop issuing you cards after a certain number.

Tanya

Mario JR Churchill asked:

There are various credit card providers to select from in Canada. As long as you have good credit, getting the appropriate credit card provide is no difficult task. In fact, financial organizations and banks make the whole process easy for you.

By doing the application online, Canadians find it quite convenient. There are a number of leading financial service banks and providers that are located in Canada and have no difficulty in selecting the right credit card service providers. This is because credit cards are popular especially in online transactions. Cities such as Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal accept credit cards from any merchant outlets.

There are so many ways in initiating the whole application process for a Canadian credit card. Especially in the time of communicating online, applications over the web are the priority. The processing time is faster than that of actual applications (wherein the individual personally visits the main office of the credit card provider.) It is important to know which credit card is suitable for you. Signing up for the wrong credit card service provider will only result to problems.

Most users look at the APR or the Annual Percentage Rate of their credit card provider options. They compare one to the other. They try to discover what kind of credit card is said to be the requirement basically because there are two kinds – the secured credit card and the unsecured credit card.

Getting a secured credit card means the person must have an excellent credit standing. Also, the processing time of the secured credit card is faster than that of the unsecured credit card. Unsecured credit cards are the last resort of those how have poor credit standing.

Nonetheless, the interests of both credit cards are still high. That is why it is important to compare one credit card provider to the next. Who knows? You might get a better deal if you took the time to compare the APRs.

When applying for a Canadian credit card, it is important that one has the creditworthiness needed for Canadian providers to grant credit cards. There are various credit card service providers but most of the request for collateral. As there are a lot of credit card service providers, it is important that the individual does some background study and research in order to get the credit card provider that is most suitable for him, his lifestyle and his budget.

Web portals and online journals serve as big guides in finding a good credit card. Canadian financial organizations often offer 411 seminars on the selection of credit card and the maintenance of a credit card standing at different times of the year.

Just remember that whenever you apply for a Canadian credit card online, you know what you are getting into. It is important that you know the figures and the facts involve before you sign anything else. You also have to make sure that your identity, and that of your loved ones, are secure whenever you do the application.

Before you sign up for any application online, do a background check on whether this credit card service provider is legal in the big cities in Canada. Once you are sure that this credit card service provider is the real thing and not a hoax, it’s time to do your thing.

Alan

Stephanie Andrews asked:

haven’t used online search methods to apply for a new credit card, it’s time to get started. The Internet offers many benefits for today’s shopper. You can use the Internet to your advantage when it comes to credit card applications. Here’s how.

Start by Searching

To get started, simply type in keywords such as “credit card applications” into a search engine like Google. You’ll find plenty of options appear right away. You can click on a website to begin browsing the cards.

When you get to a site, check for a number of things. See if it has been recently updated. Make sure it looks professional. And click through it to check that it offers plenty of card options. All of these are signs of a valid website.

Compare Offers

One of the largest benefits that the Internet has to offer is in the area of selection. You can find so many options with just a few mouse clicks. Look through the different categories of cards to find one that works for you. If you are partial to a particular bank or card issuer, look through those sections as well.

Many cards specify what level of credit they are designed for. If you know you have excellent credit, you will most likely be able to get approved for any type of card. If your score is lower, however, you’ll want to look for an application that caters to good or poor credit.

Investigate the Perks

Another of the Internet’s advantages comes in the form of information. Once you find a card that you like, look for online reviews. Chances are you’ll find a number of sites that offer credit card reviews. You can read through these and then decide if you want to apply for the card or not.

If you’re not sure what type of card to apply for, you can look at articles online that explain some of the card’s different features. You can find out if a low interest or rewards card would be better for you, or if you should look into other options. Take the time to read through some articles about using credit too. That way you’ll be off to a good start even before you apply.

Apply Online

After you have decided on the card you want to get, you can apply for one online. Credit card applications use the latest technology when it comes to security, so you don’t have to worry about your information being lost when you send it in.

The application process usually takes a short time. If you have the needed information at your computer, you’ll be able to get through the application fairly quickly. Once you finish filling it out, your application will be sent in via the Internet. You can expect the actual piece of plastic to arrive in your mailbox in about a week.

That’s all there is to it. With a little bit of searching, you can use the Internet to your advantage when shopping for a new credit card. Then keep going online for credit card help in the future. By doing so you’ll get the most out of the Internet when it comes to credit cards.

Lewis

I have several thousand dollars in credit card debt with at least 2 collections. This is due to taking longer to get through school than I expected as well as not being able to find a job when I graduated. Not including student loans, I should be able to pay off all of my debt within a year of a stable job, and it would probably be less than that.

Tara

Nick Makaryk asked:

With the advancement of the years, the public has accepted the major change called the “credit card”. It is truly a major change. Instead of stressing over carrying enough money to get what you want or need when shopping, your Visa or MasterCard can make sure you can have a great shopping experience. You can shop without leaving home on your computer. Applying for credit cards is becoming more commonplace. But every application that you fill out does not mean that you will get a credit card in the mail. Your application for a credit card may be denied. Let’s see why a provider of a credit card application turn you down when they have put so much effort into courting new customers.

One of the main reasons for rejecting an application for a credit card is mistakes that you may have made when filling it out. Little mistakes, such as entering the wrong phone number, wrong name, or zip code can be made. There is no such thing as a perfect person so mistakes are bound to be made. If you forget to fill out all the spaces on your application, this can cause another problem. Missing information that is required will cause problems with your application. If your handwriting is atrocious, the person reviewing the application may have trouble reading your information. Errors could have been made by the person who was handling the form. It may not have been filed correctly or the information needed may not have been clearly explained. Sometimes new hires make a few mistakes until they are more seasoned to the system.

But not to worry, these small mistakes due to human error can be straightened out later. The main problem this would cause would be an interruption in the timely receipt of your credit card. The number one reason for an application for a credit card being rejected is poor credit, for example, negative items in the past. Your credit score may already have been set up if you have other credit cards in active status or if you have or have had a mortgage or loan. If payments are made on time and the minimum is being paid, a good credit score is likely. On the other hand, if payments are late, behind, or not paid this results in a bad credit score. This is determined by the major credit bureaus with information received from the credit card companies you have. When applying for a new credit card, your credit score is checked and if it is a negative rating, you are automatically rejected.

The rejection or acceptance of a credit card application is dependent upon these two major reasons. They must be monitored (the credit score in particular).

Brian
