Joseph Kenny asked:

Although they can be painful at times, life today without the ease of a credit card is no longer a reality. So, if you think you want a credit card, here are some essential factors you’ll need to consider when applying for a credit card:

Your Credit History

One of the most essential elements to applying for a credit card is what you current credit history is.

* If you have a bad credit history, then it is going to be much harder applying for a credit card.

* If you have a good credit history, then it is going to be much easier applying for a credit card.

* If you have no credit history, then you may well need to create a credit history, by having a loan or hire-purchase agreement, before you can apply for a credit card.

If you’re in any doubt what your credit history may be, then you should apply for a copy of your credit history. You can do this by applying for a copy of your credit history from a credit reference agency – who may charge you a small sum for providing this to you.

Credit Card Limit

Having discovered that you have a good enough credit history to apply for a credit card, the next thing you need to do is to decide on how much of a credit line you want to apply for. Normally, what your income is will decided this – but sometime your savings can also be important.

Depending on what your income and savings are, you can then apply for a regular credit card, gold credit card, or platinum credit card.

Submitting Your Credit Card Application Form

You now need to go through the process of choosing which credit provider meets your needs. Once you have done this, you can then submit an application to that credit card company.

Once the credit card company you have applied to has reviewed your application form, they’ll either approve your application or ask you to comply with certain conditions. The type of conditions they may ask you to comply with include asking you to have some money on a deposit account with them.

Credit Card Application Is Refused

If your application for a credit card is refused, you must ask why. If you don’t, you’ll never know whether the application has been refused because you failed the credit rating test or because you completed the application form wrong!

If you failed the credit rating test, then you know you need to apply for a credit card with another credit card provider. However, if it is because you filled in the form wrong, you can still reapplying using a correctly completed application form. So don’t be shy to ask “why?” if the credit card provider tells you that you failed in your credit card application!

Erica

Daniel Wesley asked:

For those who have, at any time of their life, submitted a credit card application, a rejection letter is not a new thing to you. How frustrated you feel when you are refused a credit card, especially if the card was the ideal deal for you!

However, there is still hope. You can alter your situation and get your credit card application accepted by the issuer. Let’s take a look at how you can turn the tables in your favor.

Know The Reasons For The Rejection Of Your Credit Card Application

The first thing you should do after receiving the rejection letter is not cry in despair, but read the letter carefully. In most of the cases, the rejection letter contains the reasons why your credit card application has not been accepted. If it does not tell you the reasons of rejection, then it may state ways to find them out.

If your credit card application has been turned down due to your bad credit score, then determine the contact details of your credit reporting agency, which your credit card company contacted for verification.

In case the rejection letter does not state the clear reasons of rejection, then do not hesitate to call your credit card company, where you had submitted you credit card application, to ask for reasons. Never overlook the reasons of rejection. They may prove to be helpful in future credit card applications.

The Common Reasons Of Rejection Of Credit Card Application

One of the most common reasons is not having an income sufficient enough to meet the minimum requirements of the credit card company. Another reason is that you may not be in your present job for long enough.

Sometimes, the reason for rejection may be an incorrect information been given by the credit reporting agency. This may sound unlikely, but it happens. In such a case, call your credit reporting agency and ask for a free copy of your credit report.

Check it thoroughly and ask them to make the corrections, after giving them adequate evidence of mistake. As per the law, the credit reporting agencies are obliged to provide you a free copy and correct the flaws in the report.

Caution Is The Word For Credit card Application
Credit cards have made people go crazy. They are ready to trade their hard-earned dollars for getting this piece of plastic. However, credit card application calls for a sense of responsibility from your part.

Before filling up the details of the credit card application, make sure that you are familiar with all the terms and conditions so that you do not get entangled in legal hassles later. Besides the usual name and contact information, the credit card application also asks for the acceptance of certain offers. If you are not sure what to fill, it’s better to seek help.

Then there are hidden fees on credit card application, which may turn out to be a little heavy on your pocket. So, watch out for these things before you submit your credit card application.

It takes time for a credit card application to get processes, as the company carries out a verification of your identity. The US Patriotic Act orders stiff authentication of people applying for anything in America, including credit cards. But that does not deter the frenzy Americans from going for credit card application. So, while you are at it, it’s wise to be well-informed. Ignorance is not bliss here.

Denise

Jeremy Thompson asked:

There are millions of credit card offers and applications being sent through the mail everyday. On top of the mailed offers credit card companies have also found that it is beneficial to them to sent offers and advertise on the internet. With so many to choose from it’s hard to know which ones to pursue and which ones to ignore.

Most of the credit card offers that you receive are considered unsecured credit cards. Meaning you can “borrow” from the company or use their credit to make purchases. Before you choose which unsecured credit card you want to use to make all of your purchases you need to make yourself familiar with all it has to offer. Reading the credit card offer carefully or reading reviews online are both good ways to familiarize yourself with the details of the card. Filling out a credit card application without doing your research can be dangerous because the company may be fraudulent or have hidden fees you are not aware of.

After doing your research and choosing the card that is best for you, the next step is to fill out the application. The unsecured credit card application is nearly identical for almost every card. Filling out a credit card application is usually a simple and painless process. In fact there are hundreds of companies putting their applications online. Filling out your unsecured credit card application online is amazingly convenient and fast. Once you fill out your contact information and answer a few questions you can be approved for the card within minutes.

However, when filling an unsecured credit card application online will you want to be cautious. Make sure the company is a reputable one or the credit card may end up costing you more in the long run. You will also want to be sure the website is secure. You will be required to provide personal information, including your social security number. Sending this information over an unsecured site can make you a victim of identity theft.

As you fill out your unsecured credit card application be sure to fill in every blank correctly. The most important information is your name and personal contact information. You may feel as if you are providing a lot of unnecessary information, but credit card companies need this information in order to verify you are the person you say you are. In essence this is to protect you from others stealing your personal information and charging thousands of dollars in your name.

Once your credit card application is filled out you will be on your way to building credit and having the ability to make purchases without immediately paying cash, granted the credit card company approves your application. Very rarely do credit card companies deny people with good credit. However if you are continually denied because of bad credit another option might include applying for a secured credit card. Secured credit cards provide different guidelines than an unsecured credit card, so once again you’ll need to find the one that best fits your needs.

Bernice

Antoine Robello asked:

Why should you consider online credit card application rather than doing it manually by going to the bank? Yes, both ways have their ups and downs, but take a second look at online credit card application to see the difference.

Probably the best trait of online credit card applications is the speed of finishing the process. When you go online, you have to fill-out at least a page or two of questions regarding your finances, credit rating and other personal information that they would require to complete the application. For manual applications, you still have to wait in line and wait for your turn to be interviewed. Most of the online credit card applications will be approved as long as you completely fill out all the information needed by the issuer of the credit card.

You could be rejected in your manual application since you will talk with someone that may be affected by their surroundings. Sometimes, their moods would dictate what to do, and if you’re on the receiving end, you’re in trouble. Online applications are objective, and within minutes, you will immediately know if you have been approved or not. Even though both of them can issue the card after a week or two from the application, the online process could be finished in two minutes while manual applications could take longer before you actually finish the transaction and get your credit card approved.

Another great thing about the online credit card application is the idea of shopping for the best rates and cards. If you have a certain hobby that involves computers, cars, or books, there is a credit card company that gives rebates on certain purchases and you can go with these because the hobby that you really like gives rebates on most of your purchases. You can also choose based on the higher credit limit given by the issuer. Most would choose to have the credit cards that promise the best rates. If you are going for a manual application, shopping for the best credit card would take you more than a week and would require you to get in line.

You will also go through the credit card processor who might make subjective decisions regarding your credit limit and rate. This could be beneficial for you in some ways, but it will not help you in your spending habits. If you do the application online, a system will take a look at your background and give you the rate fit for you. Not only it will give you the ease that you need, your spending will also be based on how you originally spent.

Go for an online credit card application. It’s faster, safer and the options that you can have for a credit card are endless. There are hundreds or even thousands of companies in the country who are willing to help you with your credit card needs, and it would be almost impossible for anyone not to find the best credit card company for their needs.

Shane

James J. Robinson asked:

Here are some helpful tips for filling out online credit card applications. The Internet makes it easy to apply for credit and to find out whether your application has been accepted. In some cases, the customer gets an answer about their credit immediately. Before you start visiting web sites for this purpose, keep these tips for filling out online applications in mind, and take some time to compare your options. These steps will ensure you get approved for an appropriate card.

Make sure the web site you are using has a secure server before you share any of your personal information. Check the URL on the web page where the application form appears to ensure that it starts with “https.” This indicates that your information is being collected in a secure manner that others cannot intercept when you click on the “Send” button.

While it may be tempting to overstate your income when you are applying for credit, it’s not a good idea to do so. Some of the companies you apply to will contact an applicant’s employer to confirm income. How much an applicant makes annually is only one factor the company uses to determine whether to extend credit, so be truthful. Besides, this will only help your finances in the long run.

It’s not a good idea to apply for multiple credit cards within a short time. Your actions will appear on your credit report, and lots of applications in a relatively short time will lower your credit rating. A better strategy is to choose the card you want to apply for carefully by considering all of your options first.

Nathan

Lynette Hill asked:

Most of the time, when credit applications are declined, there is no clear answer explaining the reason for being turned down. Many credit companies do try to avoid explaining the specific reasons why because they want their lending criteria to remain a secret. For the most part, credit card companies do not want to lose money on people who cannot afford to pay back their debt. This is the reason why they take their time assessing a person’s qualification before approving their credit card application.

Card companies seek the following qualifications for people who send applications:

•	Sufficient income
•	Excellent credit history
•	Stable employment
•	Stable living arrangements

Not meeting or exceeding these requirements is the most common reason why some card applications are declined.

Sufficient Income

The obvious reason for this requirement is that card institutions want to ensure that the cardholder has the funds to pay off their credit debt. Note that some card companies also take into consideration any types of debts such as other cards or loans.

Excellent Credit History

All card companies will assess each applicant’s credit file before approving the application. Credit history will include the following details:

•	Any previous loans for the last five years
•	Previous credit card applications and current card files
•	Defaults or overdue accounts
•	Previous and current employers

Ideally, an applicant should keep his applications down to a minimum within a short period of time otherwise card companies can track each one and translate this as being desperate for a card.

Stable Employment

People with stable employments are often perceived as those that can afford to pay off their credit debt. If you are the type who changes jobs frequently or is still in probationary period, there is a big chance of being declined for a card.

Stable Living Arrangements

There are some companies who consider living arrangements when assess applications. If an applicant moves around so much, he is likely to be declined.

Cynthia

Josh Riverside asked:

Banks and their associates are now competing with one another to provide a quick and easy credit card application process. There are two common options for bank credit card applications – online format and paper copy format. Banks’ disclosure statements provide all information regarding the costs and the terms of repayment.

By entering a few simple answers and providing financial details at a safe website, you can get a response to your application within a minute. An online application is the fastest and easiest way to receive credit cards. It is also one of the safest ways, as it protects personal financial details. There are a number of card types available. You can easily choose a card that matches your needs.

Banks’ websites usually display a list of their credit card types, interest rates, special promotions and credit limits. Many of them indicate the level of credit you require. For instance, a credit card with a high limit may need good credit, but in case of a student card, past credit history is not required. Generally, a person who is 18 years of age or older can apply for a card with any U.S. bank.

Most bank applications accompany two statements: ‘pre-selected’ and ‘pre-approved.’

In the case of ‘pre-selected’ statements, a person receives credit based on the details he provides on the application and depending on a succeeding credit report. In the case of ‘pre-approved’ statement, the person is granted credit just as he fills out the application and demands. But, he would not obtain as much credit as he desires.

Theodore

Stephen Sikes asked:

It seems every day there is a new story about identity theft and credit card fraud somewhere. Sometimes there are hundreds of these stories in a day. With so many people out there desperate to take our credit card numbers, how do we keep them save? Here are five tips that will give you a good start.

Keep your Numbers Private

Your credit card is a personal card that is meant for you. While it may just seem like a piece of plastic, you should not freely lend your card out to people you know, or give out your credit card number for no good reason. Even when you have to pay for something at a restaurant or other location, you should try to keep an eye on what is happening to your card to make sure someone isn’t copying down your numbers to use later.

Shred Receipts

Receipts are not supposed to show more than the last four digits of your credit card, but many of them do. They also have a lot of your other personal information on them. Once you are done using your receipts, or filing them away for taxes, you should shred them instead of putting them in a regular trash can. Don’t make the information easy to find for someone who may be up to no good.

Shred Application

Credit card applications come in as much as other pieces of junk mail. You may see them so much that you no longer care about them and toss them in the trash without a second thought. That is not a good idea. That application has some of your information on it. You should always shred credit applications to make sure someone else doesn’t fish them out of the trash and try to open a line of credit in your name.

Use Secure Websites

If you do a lot of online shopping, make sure you are using a secure online site. Look for that little padlock logo in the corner of your web browser so you know the information you are entering is secure and only going to those you want to be giving it to.

Watch Your Card Statement

The best thing you can do to keep your credit cards secure is keep a close eye on what is happening on them. If you do online banking, you should check your credit cards regularly to make sure all the charges coming through are ones you put there. If you wait until the statement comes, make sure to look at it as soon as it comes and call if you see anything that is suspicious.

Joseph

Joseph Kenny asked:

If you have bad credit, you may be under the impression that you are not able to apply for a credit card. While it is true that you may be rejected from getting certain credit cards or loans, there are options available for those who have bad credit. Since a sizeable percentage of the population has bad credit, this has created a market which many banks and credit card companies have tapped into.

Your credit report is a reflection of your credit history, and it is very important when you need to apply for a car or mortgage. There may be situations where you will need a credit card to complete a certain transaction, and if you have bad credit you will run into problems. There are a number of options available for those with bad credit who want cards. Secured credit cards are one good option. A secured credit card allows you to deposit money into the account which you can then use.

Instead of borrowing money from the credit card company, you use your own money. You will not be allowed to go over the amount you place on the card. Despite this, you may have to pay the credit card company a fee in order to use their cards, and this is how their money is made. A secured credit card can be used to make any of the purchases you can make with a unsecured credit card. A prepaid debit card is another option that is used by people who have less than perfect credit.

If you are a student in college, an option may be available for you called a secured student credit card. These cards will allow students to begin building their credit while they’re still in school. Students who use these cards are prevented from going over their limit because they can only spend money which they’ve placed on the cards. It is important to remember that you won’t get the best deals or rates if your credit is poor. However, we live in an electronic age, and it is difficult to conduct many transactions without having either a debit or credit card.

Secured credit cards are a great way to allow you to make transactions while you continue to rebuild your credit. If you work hard to repair your credit, you won’t be in debt forever, and using these cards will allow you to easily make electronic transactions.

Mildred
