Yes by adding her as a holder that puts her liable for any debt. If you dont pay then she is the default user. Even though its not a joint account she is an authorized user. It will show up on her credit as a delinquent account.. Take your daughter off the card.

Helen

I work for a financial institution ordering cards for people like you. Your daughter's credit won't be affected unless she's a co-borrower, which it doesn't sound like she is. When your bank asked if you want another card on the account, they were asking if you wanted an authorized user. Only a borrower and co-borrower's credit reports are affected. Since your daughter's an authorized user, her credit won't be affected.

The collectors are asking for your daughter because they're trying to collect the debt in any way they can.

Dolores

If you did not put her social in then no it wont.

If she is only an authorized user, it will not affect her credit. She is not legally responsible. You are able to add many people to an account as authorized, meaning they can use the account, but they may not change info, discuss anything personal, and it won't effect their credit.

Call the creditor and ask if your daughter is on their joint or authorized. You can dispute adding her joint. If they don't have proof that you wanted her joint on the account, they have to fix it.

When I worked at Macy's, if you applied single and asked for a joint account later, a letter had to be signed by both parties.

Florence

Getting her a card was putting her name on the account. Not only have you ruined your credit but hers also. Try dealing with the company and see if you can get her name removed.
