the noose of the credit crunch?

Who here has either been denied a credit card application for a lower rate for which they thought they were approved or has had their credit limit cut in the last month or so.

I’ve heard AMEX is a great card so I thought of applying for one, then I thought better of it…credit crunch and all that. No point in bringing my score down and my debt up for something I don’t need.

First let me say that our credit score is well above 700 and we have not been late with any payments. Never have we paid the minimum due; it’s always been more. Recently, however, one of our credit card companies cancelled our card with no explanation.

It was a store credit card that we have not used in quite a while but did have a balance because of kitchen appliance purchases. I’d estimate that our only activity on that card the past couple of years was making payments.
