I have been applying for a credit card and for three times the banks have regretted their inability.Whats up?

They dont tell any reasons, yet my colleagues with lesser payscales have already received theirs. Yep, way back in 2004-05 I defaulted in clearing an old outstanding, but I paid off and have letters to prove final settlement. Does this have a bearing on subsequent applications and if yes, then how long will I have to wait?

The more times you apply for credit, the more it lowers your credit score. And you better check your credit score and make sure there aren’t any mistakes on it or that someone else hasn’t stolen your identity. I’ve always heard of freecreditreport.com, although I’ve never checked it out myself.

Go to this site here and pull up your credit report
For Less than 10 bucks one of the sites will give you your credit score. That information should help you. Have you applied for a card with the bank that you do your checking? Credit unions are also very good places to look?
The letters showing you paid it off will help if the information the credit bureaus have is incorrect, that is likely the problem.
Avoid Free credit report.com it is a site that signs you up to pay for monitoring!
