Have you asked them why? Have you checked your credit reports? Do you have income?

Be law, they are to send you a written notice of why your application was denied and what source they used to make their determination.

Are you sure you have great credit? when was the last time you saw your credit report? someone may have stolen your Identity and ran your credit into the ground.

I advise you get your latest credit reports from all 3 CRA’s even if you have done so a while ago. You are entitled to free credit reports once a year, so if it has been longer then a year, it won’t cost you a dime, if you have done so within this past year, better to pay a little to check them out. You may be shocked at what is being listed there.

It could be some time barred debt that some junk collection agency bought an now has placed it on your credit report which is causing the credit denials.

When they deny you credit, they usually send a letter, that will tell you which credit agency provided the information used to deny you credit. Then you write that agency and ask them for a copy of your report and the reasons why your credit is being denied.

Or, go to (the only legitimate site) and request copies of your reports.

Either way, we can’t tell you why. Here are my best guesses:

No credit/debt equals bad credit. For years, this changed but is now swinging back to the way it used to be (nearly impossible to get credit).

Someone is using your identity and has racked up debts you don’t know of.

Or, the “credit crisis” you keep hearing about on TV. It isn’t just businesses that are being denied credit, it is regular people too.

When you are denied credit, they must give you an explanation (they can use a form letter). Call the company that denied you and ask for a formal explanation to be sent. If there is something negative on your credit report, call the credit bureau and you can request a free copy of your credit report (even if you already have received your annual copy) (you may need to send a copy of the credit denial). Check the report to make sure anything negative has been verified – if you don’t recognize something or if you believe something is reported incorrectly, dispute it.

If it is something else besides your credit record, it will be noted and you can work with the card companies to figure out how to correct whatever they are finding.

Other factors could be involved:
* having too many cards
* using too much available credit – close to max. out levels
* having too much available credit
* having too recent a credit history

Every time you are rejected for a credit card, per law they must send you your credit report….Look it over for incorrect info and dispute any erroneous items.

I had the same problem and I had a checking and savings account!
Try and go to your bank and ask for a credit card, they usually will do it if you have a job and can pay the bill.

You need to establish credit first.
Start by opening up a checking account that offers a debit/visa card. The visa will take it directly out of your checking, but it actually develops your credit.
